Why did your organization become a GovRAMP member?

During the course of moving to our cloud model, we want to make sure that we comply with federal and state standards. Compliance with these standards ensures that our data and systems are secure and that we can maintain the trust of our clients. Becoming a GovRAMP member demonstrates our commitment to cybersecurity and the best practices in the industry.

What advice do you have for other providers progressing through the GovRAMP process?

Do not delay the process simply because you believe that you are not prepared to begin. Give yourself time and prioritize what you already have in place first. You can always build and improve using those controls as a starting point. Setting time aside to dedicate to your GovRAMP process will make your overall experience much more manageable.

How do you stay up to date with the evolving cybersecurity landscape?

Being a part of the GovRAMP community has helped us organize and plan improvements to our internal structure. With this approach, we are able to prioritize the achievable tasks while working toward the more complex tasks that can be implemented into our company's processes, in a way that is sustainable and logical.

Please share any specific challenges or lessons learned from your GovRAMP journey.

Scinary Cybersecurity is a small company, so it can be challenging to see where we fit within the strict standards expected of a larger organization. We must think outside the box and come up with our own solutions and versions of what those requirements would look like for us, and make sure we adapt to fit and satisfy the GovRAMP requirements.

What cybersecurity-related events, conferences, or webinars do you recommend for industry professionals?

Among the conferences in Texas alone, we feel that the RSA Conference and the NICE Conference are among the most important.
