Why did your organization become a GovRAMP member? 

At RapidDeploy, cybersecurity and public safety go hand-in-hand. We became a GovRAMP member to validate that our security posture meets the highest standards for cloud service providers supporting government entities. Our membership helps mitigate risk, ensures compliance with rigorous cybersecurity requirements, and reinforces our commitment to protecting sensitive information. By proactively aligning with GovRAMP standards, we strengthen operational resilience and safeguard the critical systems that power emergency response. It’s not just about meeting a benchmark—it’s about elevating trust and accountability with every agency we serve. 

What advice do you have for other providers progressing through the GovRAMP process? 

View the GovRAMP process as more than a compliance exercise—it’s a strategic opportunity to mature your cybersecurity program. With over 300 controls to assess and validate, the journey can seem daunting at first. The key is consistency. Take a structured approach, work methodically, and document your progress. Along the way, don’t underestimate the value of celebrating milestones—each one marks a step toward a more secure and resilient organization. Patience and persistence are your best assets. 

How do you stay up to date with the evolving cybersecurity landscape? 

Cybersecurity is dynamic by nature, and staying current requires both vigilance and community engagement. We actively participate in security-focused forums such as r/cybersecurity and r/netsec, and closely monitor guidance from CJISSECPOL, NIST, and international frameworks like ISO 27001. Our teams also leverage threat intelligence platforms, including the CVE and NVD databases, to track emerging vulnerabilities. Staying ahead of threats isn’t optional—it’s imperative. Our approach is proactive, informed, and continuously evolving. 

How has GovRAMP benefited your organization so far? 

GovRAMP has driven measurable improvements in our cybersecurity posture. It’s helped us uncover and remediate vulnerabilities, implement more robust controls, and enhance confidence among our public sector partners. For our clients—who rely on real-time, mission-critical data during emergencies—knowing that we meet GovRAMP’s standards provides added assurance. If there’s one takeaway from our journey, it’s this: progress is incremental, and every step matters. Methodically working through controls can be challenging, but the effort pays off. We’ve learned to embrace the process, keep perspective, and celebrate the small wins—whether it’s closing a complex gap or checking off a particularly difficult requirement. The road to authorization is demanding, but the destination is worth it.
